Hartland Elizabeth

Elizabeth Hartland is Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Melbourne and Deputy Director of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. She has a long-standing research interest in the pathogenesis of infections caused by Gram-negative pathogens, with a focus on mechanisms of bacterial colonization and immune evasion. Her Legionella work is focused on identifying the function of Dot/Icm effector proteins and understanding immune susceptibility to infection. In 2013, she was Chair of the 8th International Conference on Legionella held in Melbourne, Australia.
