Petra Brandsema is an epidemiologist working at the Centre Infectious Disease Control, which is part of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands. Since 2006 her main focus has been surveillance and epidemiology of Legionnaires’ disease (LD). She published articles on the association of the LD incidence with the weather and co-authored publications on legionella sources, ST-genotyping distribution in The Netherlands, and the result of 10 years source finding results. Alternative sources of Legionella are topics of special interest. As representative from the RVIM, she advises policymakers from epidemiological perspective on LD for national legislation on legionella prevention. She is participating in ELDSNet and since 2015 part of the ELDSNet Coordination Committee.
