Paolo Visca is full professor of Microbiology at the Department of Science of Roma Tre University (Rome, IT). He got the PhD in Medical Microbiology in 1988, then worked as visiting scientist at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany), as staff Scientist at the Institute of Microbiology of the University "La Sapienza", as Senior Scientist at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Rome) and then as Professor of Microbiology at the Department of Biology of the University of "Roma Tre. He headed the Molecular Microbiology Unit at the National Institute for Infectious Diseases, and is currently the director of the PhD programme in “Biomedical Sciences and Technologies”. He is Treasurer of the Italian Society for General Microbiology and Biotechnology and delegate at the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS). Editor of the journals “Annals of Microbiology”, “BMC Microbiology” and “Frontiers in Microbiology”. Co-author of ca. 200 papers in international journals.
