Hilbi Hubert

Prof. Dr. Hubert Hilbi studied Biochemistry and Microbiology at the ETH in Zürich and obtained a Ph.D. in Microbiology in 1994. As a postdoc, Dr. Hilbi moved to New York City, where at the NYU Medical Center and Columbia University, he studied host cell interactions of Shigella flexneri and Legionella pneumophila, respectively. In 2002, Hubert Hilbi moved back to the ETH Zürich to establish his own research group as a Swiss National Science Foundation assistant professor. From 2010 to 2013, Dr. Hilbi was appointed as professor at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute, Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich. Since 2014, Hubert Hilbi is at the University of Zürich, where he is head of a research unit and professor at the Institute of Medical Microbiology. His current research focusses on mechanistic aspects of intracellular replication and cell-cell communication of Legionella species.
